Alassio Christmas Town: Long live Christmas!

A festival for young and old alike

Shopping in the boutiques of the old town, with seasonal window displays, the traditional aromas of Christmas, jingle bells, laughing children: from November 28 to January 10, the streets of the old town are transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland.

Artists, jugglers, acrobats and tightrope walkers bring the streets to live with their spectacular performances. The stalls of the Alassio Street Food Festival fill the air with the delicious scent of sweet and savoury local delicacies. Among these, we recommend “panino con la ventre”, a distinctive tuna tripe sandwich, as well as “biscette” fritters, famous "Baci” biscuits, “pane del marinario” fruit bread and “gumuletti” jam-filled pastries. Don’t be put off by the names, they are all absolutely delicious!

Whilst the adults go for a stroll in search out some gifts, youngsters can have fun in the amusement park in Piazza Partigiani or go ice skating in Piazza della Libertà.

From 7th December to 10th January, if you choose my shops for your Christmas shopping, you can take part in the “Alassio - Shopping dei Sogni” contest and win fantastic prizes!

From December 5-31, Father Christmas will be waiting to welcome you to his grotto in Piazza Matteotti where you can tell him what you want for Christmas and have your photo taken with him.

Don’t miss The Art of Christmas in Piazza Airaldi e Durante: a special craft market offering plenty of ideas for your Christmas gifts.

1st January, to celebrate the start of the new year, my gulf lights up with a fireworks display.

From January 1-6, the Befana arrives in Piazza Matteotti, the famous figure in Italian folklore who brings sweets to children who have been good.

And on January 6, la Befana arrives on her broomstick!
