A fast growing activity that allows more and more lovers to appreciate the beauty and great variety of daytime butterflies: probably the most suggestive and interesting order of insects.
Approach this fascinating world in a respectful and responsible way, adding value to every possible excursion in natural areas. Alassio has a first hillside that is hardly known but extremely interesting from a naturalistic point of view.
The itinerary runs along the ridge between Mt. Pisciavino (Vegliasco peak) and Mt. Bignone on the Alta Via Baia del Sole (AVBS), which connects Albenga to Laigueglia, departure from Vegliasco. The trail begins along the dirt road towards the aerials located on the peak of the mountain and then halfway up the hillside and in slight slope through the dense Mediterranean bush until reaching the crossing between Mount Castellaro and Pisciavino. From here, taking the ridge route, continue towards Albenga reaching the Mount Bignone crossing, where you leave the AVBS to reach the village of Cavia and the Vegliasco - Cavia panoramic road where the hike ends.
NB: if participants are interested and willing, the itinerary could vary in length and difficulty by returning to Alassio on foot without the shuttle transfer.

Departure at 9 a.m. from the railway station, Piazza Andrea Quartino - Alassio (SV).
Shuttle bus transport from Alassio station and back.
A small “field manual” is provided for the identification of the most common butterflies of the Mediterranean biogeographical area.
Payment directly with the staff member on site, at the meeting point.
It is advisable to be equipped with hiking boots or hiking shoes with good soles, suitable clothing adapt for the season, long trousers, weatherproof jacket, at least 1.5 litres of water, camera, binoculars and trekking poles.

For everyone, adults and children (not recommended for children under 8 years old). The itinerary is not challenging in terms of length, but the difference in altitude does require a certain amount of effort on behalf of the participant.
